Top Bar Hives (Albuquerque, NM)
2014

//

On a sweltering August day, I braved the bulky white bee jacket and veil and joined my parents as they tended to their three top bar bee hives to clean and harvest honey. Although my nerves were running wild, it was incredible to handle the bees so closely and catch glimpses into their complex hive lifestyle. My bravery was rewarded with the most delicious, pure honey you’ve ever tasted. (I even cheated and ate it straight from the comb.)
